Two-Factor Authentication

Add a second layer of sign-in security to your Taifa Mail account with email one-time codes.

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a second step to sign-in. Even if someone gains access to your Google or GitHub account, they cannot sign in to Taifa Mail without a one-time code delivered to your email.

How it works

Taifa Mail's 2FA uses email one-time passcodes (OTPs):

  • The code is a 6-digit number.
  • It is valid for 10 minutes.
  • A fresh code is sent each time you sign in.

Enabling 2FA

  1. Go to SettingsSecurity.
  2. Click Enable two-factor authentication.
  3. Taifa Mail sends a 6-digit code to your account email.
  4. Enter the code to confirm. 2FA is now active.

Signing in with 2FA

Once 2FA is enabled, every sign-in works like this:

  1. Sign in with Google or GitHub as usual.
  2. You are taken to a verification page and a 6-digit code is sent to your email.
  3. Enter the code to finish signing in.

The code is sent to the email address on your account. Make sure you can receive mail there before you enable 2FA.

Disabling 2FA

  1. Go to SettingsSecurity.
  2. Click Disable two-factor authentication.
  3. Confirm with the 6-digit code sent to your email.

Disabling 2FA removes the second sign-in step for your account. Only do this if you are sure.
